The AI Visibility Score

The standard measure ofwhether AI recommendsyour brand.

Most tools count how often you show up in AI answers, then leave you guessing. Primacy gives you one Score: where you stand, why, and exactly what to do about it. Measured the same way every time, across every major AI tool, so the number actually means something.

What’s your Primacy Score?

The question a board, a client, or an investor will eventually ask. Have the answer ready.

The standard

A measurement, not a screenshot.

Asked many times.

One AI answer is a lucky screenshot. We ask each buyer question many times and average it, so the number is a measurement, not a moment.

Every major AI tool.

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity. Shown for each, on every plan. Nothing hidden.

Versioned and published.

Our method is open and version-stamped, so your Score holds up over time and against anyone else's.

Day-to-day search operations, keyword tracking, and site health, the work platforms like Semrush and Ahrefs are built for.

Use Primacy when someone asks

“Does AI actually recommend us, and if not, why?” The one question a search dashboard can’t answer cleanly. Primacy can.

The Invisible Shortlist

The shortlist forms before your funnel sees the buyer.

A buyer with a problem no longer starts with ten blue links. They ask an AI assistant, get two or three names, and decide who to call. That answer is the market, as far as they know.

The answers change run to run.

Ask the same question three times and you can get three different lists. One check tells you almost nothing.

Every engine judges you separately.

Strong in ChatGPT and absent in Gemini means a share of your market simply never sees you, depending on nothing but which assistant the buyer opened.

Your dashboard cannot see any of it.

Traffic, form fills, and lead scores measure the buyers who reached you. They say nothing about the ones routed elsewhere by an answer you never saw.

And when you’re absent from the answer, someone else is in it. Primacy shows you who AI recommends instead of you, by name, by question, by engine.

You cannot manage what you cannot measure. Until now, nobody was measuring this honestly.

The Instrument

One number for your board. Six dimensions underneath it.

Primacy runs the questions your buyers actually ask, across all six major AI engines, and scores what comes back. Sampled repeatedly, because these systems do not answer the same way twice.

  • 01PresenceDo you appear at all when buyers ask?71.5
  • 02CitationAre you named with a source, or mentioned in passing?59.5
  • 03ProminenceRecommended, listed, or barely visible?58.2
  • 04Share of VoiceWho AI recommends instead of you, and how much of the recommendation space each rival owns.46.6
  • 05SentimentWhen the engines talk about you, how favorably?82.5
  • 06Engine BreadthHow evenly do you show up across all six engines?57.5

Yesterday this was invisible. Today it is six numbers you can manage.

Who it’s for

Built for the people who answer for the number.

Marketing leaders

Walk in with the answer, and the trend.

Your board will eventually ask whether AI recommends you. Walk in with the answer instead of a guess, and track it quarter over quarter like any KPI that matters.

Practices & local business

See whether it says your name.

Your next patient or client asked AI before they called anyone. See whether it says your name or the competitor's across town, on the questions people actually ask before they book.

Brands & D2C

AI answers are the new shelf.

See how much of it you own, which products get recommended by name, and who's taking the recommendation when it isn't you.

Agencies

Be the agency with an instrument.

Measure and report AI visibility for every client domain, with tunable question sets, white-label reports, and the rigor that makes your recommendations stick.

Sizing

The questions everyone asks.

Why is there no free tier?

Because the measurement is real. Every benchmark samples your buyer questions many times across six engines, which costs actual compute. A free version would have to guess, and a guess defeats the purpose of a score.

What if my score is bad?

Then you found out before your competitors did, and before your board asked. A low score with a clear gap map is the start of a fixable plan. Not knowing is the only unmanageable outcome.

How is this different from checking ChatGPT myself?

Ask the same question three times and you will get three different answers. A spot check is one roll of the dice. Primacy samples every question repeatedly, across all six engines, and turns the noise into a rate you can trust and track.

Which engines do you cover?

Every plan measures the Core Six: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Google AI Mode, the engines with meaningful buyer-research share across categories. Two extension engines are available on any Baseline, reported beside your score: Copilot Search for B2B and enterprise categories, and Grok for consumer and practitioner-influenced categories. The roster is governed by published criteria and reviewed on the methodology page.

How many questions do I need?

Every Baseline includes up to 60 buyer questions, sized to what you sell. A typical brand runs 54 to 58, set and locked with you during setup. Each product line or service is an answer surface, covered across the awareness, comparison, and branded stages. Catalogs with many lines add expansion packs of 30. Setup recommends your number and shows the reasoning. The Primacy Snapshot runs a focused 30-question set built the same way.

What is the difference between a Snapshot and the certified Primacy Score?

Sample depth, disclosed honestly. The certified Primacy Score comes only from a full Baseline: every question sampled ten times per engine, which is what makes the number tight enough to certify, compare, and track. The Primacy Snapshot samples each question three times, enough for a credible read with a stated confidence range, at a fraction of the cost. More samples means a tighter range. Same method, same scoring model, same six engines on both. We just never present a three-sample read as a certified Score.

What if the Snapshot tells me nothing new?

Then you pay nothing. Every Primacy Snapshot is guaranteed to surface at least five specific, actionable findings about your AI visibility, or you get a full refund. And if it convinces you to go deeper, the full price of your Snapshot credits toward a Baseline within 30 days, so the entry point is never money spent twice.

Can I see how specific competitors perform?

Yes, that is half the point. Competitors appear in the same AI answers you are measured against, so every Baseline includes your position against 5 named rivals: which buyer questions they win, which you win, and who owns the recommendation space on each engine. Monitoring plans, coming soon, will track how that position moves.

Do I pay full price every time I want a new Score?

No. Your first Baseline is the benchmark, and you never pay full price twice: re-runs are $499 at the same full ten-sample depth, so every new Score compares to your last one like for like. Monitoring plans (from $299/mo) are rolling out next for brands that want the number tracked continuously — trends, history, and movement alerts when a named rival moves — and founding brands lock founding rates on monitoring when it ships. Agencies running several brands: talk to us about per-client re-run schedules.

Can I choose the questions?

Yes. Every Baseline starts from your category, your competitors, and your applications, and you can tune the question set during setup before anything runs. Agencies and portfolios: per-client tuning at volume is available — talk to us.
